Industry

Heavy industry and metalworking

In metalworking plants and heavy industry the system runs under continuous load, handling welding fume and abrasive grinding dust. For this reason GAKO selects ducts and fans suited to abrasion and sustained load.

The challenge

What sets this sector apart

  • Welding and cutting fume generated at the worker's breathing height
  • Grinding dust and abrasive particles that wear down ducts and fans
  • Workstations that move along the production line
  • Continuous load, sometimes across full shifts

Solutions

Extraction arms

Local extraction right at the welding point, so the fume is captured before it reaches the worker.

Downdraft tables

For grinding, cutting and welding on a work surface, with extraction from below or behind.

Dust collectors

Filtration systems with bags or cartridges, sized for the air volume and the type of dust.

Heavy-duty ducts and fans

Sheet metal of a thickness suited to abrasion, a route that prevents dust settling, and a fan selected by airflow and pressure.

Frequently asked questions

Extraction at the workstations has dropped. Where do we start?

Usually with the filters, since high differential pressure points to clogged filters. After that we check the ducts, the dampers and the fan itself.

Can stations be added to an existing system?

Sometimes. It depends on the spare capacity of the fan and the diameter of the ducts, and is checked during the survey.
